What’s going on in Mallorca 2016?

The January blues have really started to kick in for us so what a better way to cheer ourselves up than looking at all of the festivals that we have ahead of us, and boy do we have a few to look forward to …

  • 21st of January, Sant Sebastian

This is one of Mallorca’s biggest festivals and rightly so. Enjoy their parades and music from the 18th of January until the 20th. The main festivities will take place on the 19th.

  • 23rd of January, Sant Antoni

Sineu celebrates their “correfoc”.  A night of fire and demons.

The children’s carnival takes place on the 6th of February and the adults on the 7th. Everyone will dress up and parade down the Borne.

  • 7th of Febuary, Almond fair.

Everybody loves almonds and what a better way to celebrate them than attending a market in Son Servera where they will be selling soaps, creams, make up and candles made with the product itself.

  • 5th of March, Pottery fair

Come to Marratxi to pick up some of Mallorca’s finest ceramics: pots, jugs…

  • 10th of March, Rally Clasico

Who doesn’t love a bit of rallying in the sun?  Head to Portals Nous to see what cars are taking part.

  • 17th of March, Saint Patricks day

Santa Ponsa is hosting their annual Saint Patrick celebrations; there will be a stage, live music & of course lots of irish dancing.

  • 26th of March Nature Sport Fair

Taking place in Escorca, there will be endless adventure sports to enjoy

  • 3rd of April, Sant Francesc

Muro will be filled with music, concerts, local produce, exhibitions and vintage cars will be on display.

  • 10th of April, Triathlon

Two races will take place in Portocolom . If you don’t want to take part, make sure to go along and cheer everyone on.

 

  • 10th of April, Woman marathon

This marathon both starts and finishes behind the cathedral, you can either join in on their 10km marathon, their half marathon or the full marathon. See you there!

  • 16th of April, Pollenca wine fair

The words “wine” and “fair” go so nicely in a sentence don’t you think? This fair will be displaying many of the Balearics mouth-watering wines. Timings: 10- 20.30 o’clock on Saturday and 14:00 on Sunday.

  • 28th of April, Palma boat show

This boat show is amazing and gives you a glimpse of some amazing yachts. Open from 11:00 to 20:00

  • 30th of April, Magaluf half marathon.

No full marathon will take place, but there will be a 10km run and a Nordic walk

  • 5th of May, Dijous Gros

Translated into “big Thursday” and big it will be, with markets, stalls and much more

  • 7th of May, Ironman

Which will take place in Alcudia and what a better area to run, swim and cycle.

  • 7th of May, Festivals of moors and Christians

There will be a re-enactment of the battle of the Moors and Christians in soller.

  • 8th of May, Europe day

Here you can enjoy different types of food, market stalls and live performances on Palmanova’s beach front.

  • 23rd of June, Nit de Foc

Palma shows off their favourite party of all, a night full of demons, bonfires and fireworks.

  • 24th of June, Sant Joan

On this evening, everyone gets together on their nearest beach to enjoy some live music. Then at midnight everyone gets into the sea because people claim that it is supposed to wash away any evil spirits and to heal souls.

  • 24th of July, Artdemossa

This is the festival for all art lovers in Valldemossa. Dance, music and a whole lot of culture.

  • 2nd of August, Festivals of moors and christians Pollenca

It’s time for Pollenca to celebrate this famous festival.

During the first week of September, Santa Ponsa has a giant parade, their version of the battle of the Moors and Christians, stalls, live music and a foam party.

Like I said before, Wine and fair in one sentence just sounds perfect.

  • 24th of September, Ironman Mallorca

Which takes place in Alcudia

  • 2nd of October, Sweet Fair

Esporles hosts a fair full of all things sweet: traditional sweets, cakes, jams..

  • 19th of November, Olive Fair Caimari.

Travel up the mountains to see why the Mallorquins and everyone else on this island love their olives so much

  • 10th of December, Arta Christmas market

It’s that time of the year again so head up to Arta to check out their Christmas celebrations.
