Moving to Mallorca tips & hints

5 steps on moving to Mallorca

Just go for it

Everyone here in our office has taken the decision upon themselves to move to this beautiful island. At first, it may be a little difficult with all of the moving, the researching and the house finding but it’s the start to your new adventure. If you are having second thoughts, then stop right there… the days are brighter, longer and a hell of a lot sunnier, what more could you want?

Get to know your areas

So once you’ve decided that your new and improved life is going to take place in Mallorca, the next step is to pick the right area. This is definitely the most important thing to bear in mind, this is the place you are going to wake up to every day, where you are going to find all your local restaurants and get friendly with all of the neighbourhood…. This is quite a difficult step but with us by your side we are sure to point you in the right direction. Don’t just buy a house, because you’ve fallen in love with it, make sure you fall as in love with the surrounding area.

Learn the language

Don’t get me wrong, there is still a very large population on this island who don’t speak Spanish & if you don’t it’s not the end of the world, but it does help. If your children are planning on joining the local football team or you are trying to do something as simple as sending a letter, then learn the language, no it’s not essential but it does make everything that little bit easier.

Research

Get to know the island. The most beautiful coves and beaches are always the hidden ones, the hidden gems only known by the locals. One of the things we love most about this island are the amazing restaurants that even we haven’t managed to go to yet, the elite beach clubs and all of the festivals that take place every single year. Speak to the locals, get to know the place you live, their favourite beaches, which restaurants they like best and when the next festival is taking place.

Get involved in the community

Join the local football team, get involved in the carnival and don’t miss out on all of the local markets, this island is full of amazing people from all of over the world and you meet someone new every single day. Get involved with your neighbourhood and really get to know the Spanish way of life, it’s amazing, we promise!
